The third season of Sailor Moon introduces two new scouts, Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus, the Outer Senshi. The villians of this season are the Deathbusters. The Deathbusters consist of Professor Souchi Tomoe, Kaolinite, The Witches5 (Eudial, Mimete, Tellu, Villuy, Cyprine and Pikuroll), Mistress9 and Master Pharoah 90. The new senshi and the Deathbusters are searching for three talismans hidden in the heart crystals of pure people. When put together the talismans will form the holy grail.
The new senshi hope to find it and the messiah and save the world. The Deathbusters wish to use the grail to destroy the world with the dark messiah, by opening the way for Master Pharoah 90. The Inner Senshi/Scouts don't know if they should help or hinder the new Scouts as removing the crystals from it's carrier for too long will result in death. This season follows the "Monster of the Week" format with the overlaying story arch. Hotaru is also introduced this season.
