| Arthur bought his flying suit at an auction and decided he needed adventure. In the comic, Arthur spotted the Tick on one of his nightly eventless patrols of the City. Noticing that the Tick seemed to attract adventure like flies to honey, Arthur helped him out on his current adventure then asked to be his sidekick. To stop Arthur's droning explanation of why he wanted to be a sidekick the Tick agreed. Arthur is the brains of the two man team and one of the few people in the series who had any sense of reality. Sometimes this causes problems between him and the Tick because the Tick has no sense of reality. Often the Tick will become obsessed with something, often something that is very expensive, or something with the possibility of doing great bodily harm or damage to Arthur's apartment where they live. Since neither Arthur or the Tick have a steady source of income Arthur is very aware that their funds are not unlimited. And in his own words, Arthur is "Very, very vulnerable" while the Tick is "Nigh-invulnerable". Though burdened with an inconvenient grasp of his own mortality and bank account, Arthur is determined to be a good sidekick. | |
