Tatewaki Kuno is the rising young star of the Furikian High School Kendo Club. Kuno is very proud of his aristocratic lineage and wealth. He tries to very traditional, wearing samurai robes and using old-fashioned phrases and writing tools. He often tries to quote famous plays and poets but often confuses his quotes and mixes his metaphors. He has an obsession with both Akane Tendo and the female Ranma. Professing to love them both, he can't decide which he loves more. This causes him both mental anguish, monetary loss (caused by his classmate Nabiki Tendo) as well as quite a bit of physical damage caused by Ranma and Akane when they are fending off his advances. Not the brightest of people Kuno is often bilked out of his money by Nabiki and still hasn't discovered Ranma's secret dispite having it nearly spelled out for him.
