Dr. Tofu is the local chiropractor, an excellent doctor, skilled in martial arts medicine. He often bandages up Ranma after his scuffles with Akane and has helped him defeat his foes at various times. Akane had a huge crush on him at the begining of the story, and grew her hair long to try to impress him. Her crush was particularly heart-wrenching since Tofu is completely enamoured of Kasumi, her older sister. Dr. Tofu goes totally nutso anytime he's near Kasumi. His glasses steam up and he begins to babble like a fool. He also gets himself injured by grabbing on to light fixtures and becomes accidentally distructive, destroying whatever he has in his hands. No patient of his would ever dare trust themselves in his hands while Kasumi is around. Of course, Kasumi is absolutly oblivious to his obvious interest. After being around Kasumi, Dr. Tofu has been seen running around Tokyo with his skeleton Betty on his back or dancing with her.
Dr. Tofu employs Genma at his clinic letting him run errands and do chores for him. At one time Shampoo also worked for him as his aide.
