Nodoka Saotome has not seen her husband
Genma or her son Ranma since they left for a training
expedtiton to China. She looks forward to their return as
Gemna promised that he would turn Ranma into a "real man" or
they would both commit hari-kari. Unbeknownst to Nodoka, her
son and husband have returned to Japan, but becuase of thier
respective curses cannot show their true faces around her
for fear they may have to live up to their promise. Nodoka
does not realise that Akane's "cousin Ranko" and her pet
"Mr. Panda" are her long lost son and husband. Nodoka is the
closest thing the Tendo girls have to a mother figure, and
is the only female grown-up for them to turn to. Nodoka
tries to help out whenever possible, even braving the
horrors of Akane's cooking to help teach her to cook.
One must wonder how such a formidable, kind woman ended up
with a lazy, bottomless stomach like Genma.
