This place is possibly the most important landmark in the Ranma 1/2 universe. It was in this place, located in the remote Pa-yen-k'a-la mountains in the Tsinghai region of China, that Ranma, and many others, gained their respective curses. Actually a collection of over 100 cursed springs and used as a very dangerous training ground, each one has it's own tragic legend and curse. Each curse operates in a similar manner.
After falling into a cursed spring, the
person gains a cursed form which he/she transforms into
whenever splashed with cold water. This form is whatever
drowned last in the spring. For example, Genma fell into the
Spring of Drowned Panda, thus when splashed with cold water
he becomes a Panda. To return his/her natural form the
afflicted must be doused with hot water. As of yet, a
permenant cure has yet to be found. Most of these springs
are unknown to the world at large (possibly the only one who
knows the legend to each spring is the Chinease Guide) but a
few have ben identified by the people encountering them.
Below is a list of the known springs and their curses, as
well as the people afflicted by that particular curse.
*Happosai dipped the newborn Tarou in this spring where a yeti riding a bull carrying a crane and an eel drowned 2500 years ago, turning him into a baby monster like a winged minotaur with an eel-headed tail.
